Today’s the Long Day – Day 2, Week 1, Cycle 2

Fighting Cancer

Today’s Video

Almost Half Way Done

Today is my long day, but, I’m almost half way done with my chemo treatment (assuming I’m only doing 3 cycles, and not 4).  I still have over 5 weeks left of receiving weekly chemo, and I’ll have a few weeks after that recovering still.  BUT, out of the 9 weeks, 3 weeks are intense Mon – Fri weeks.  I’m in my second week of that, so after Wednesdays, I’m “half way done”… sort of.  That may sound illogical, but I’m the one with cancer, so I get to tell YOU how it is.  :D

Not the Port you want to Visit

I mentioned in the video that I had some port problems this past week, and yesterday.  Those issues continued today, but we were able to resolve it rather quickly.  The xray picture I posted yesterday show directly above the port a slightly sharp turn, and I think that it kinks at different times.  Yesterday, I got over 4 liters of “goods” pumped through, and at the very end had some slight troubles.  But, it’s working good enough to not have to do surgery again, so that’s awesome.  And it’s still better than having my veins trashed.

What are your questions?

I’ve been posting blogs and videos for a while, and wanted to know if anyone wants me to talk about any other aspects of life with cancer?  So, have any questions for me?  Personal, spiritual, dietary, etc…?  No question is to personal (unless of course it is and I’ll make that disappear, but try your luck!)

This post is one of many about my journey of fighting cancer.  I’m currently in “Round #2″ with my cancer recently coming back after 3.5 years. HAIRLESS – Day 2, Week 3, Cycle 1

Fighting Cancer

Bald is Beautiful (or at least that the typical cancer thing to say :D )

Here’s the video from yesterday!  I’ll post more about the head shaving process later today!  Oh, and I suppose technically I’m only 90% hairless, until I shave the chemohawk and beard off… which will likely be by the end of this week as my beard is falling out QUICK.

Trouble in Chemo Paradise

We had quite a bit of trouble yesterday during my treatment getting my chemo port to work properly.  It took an hour to “unclog” it, and then it quite working 30 minutes later.  So I had to get an IV anyways, but it wasn’t to bad as the actual time I was getting just the chemo (bleomycin) was 10-15 minutes, the rest of the time was other fluids.  I’ve got an appointment in 30 minutes to have my port checked out, hopefully I won’t have to have surgery to fix it or replace it.

Day 5, Week 1, Cycle 1

Updates!

Final day of treatment for the week!  Here’s todays video!

Last Night was the “worst”.

But it wasn’t to terrible.  Just had trouble sleeping with the sore shoulder from the port surgery and lung tests.  Took some medicine a few times, and that helped me get some rest.

Port Surgery

No, my brain isn't leaking, that's from the port incision. :D

The Port.

Is SOOO much nicer than the IV’s.  It’s still quite swollen and a little painful, but it’s quick and easy.  Should let me get in and out a lot faster, and save my veins.  Plus, it looks cool.

What’s Next.

Today is my last day of chemo for the week, so I’ll have until Tuesday before I have to be back.  I believe its this weekend that I should feel the “dip” as my body recovers from the week.  BUT, I’m determined to stay positive and enjoy my time with my family.  I’ll try to update over the weekend, but if not I’ll post on Tuesday at my next day of chemo!

Got any questions about any of this process?  I’d love to chat and share about my experience.  My mind is a little cloudy at the moment, so sorry for the short post!  God is GOOD!
